Choosing a College

In-state public, out-of-state public, liberal arts colleges, Christian colleges.... Are you overwhelmed by all of the college choices? Don't be. In this two-hour workshop, we will help you to sift through the plethora of choices to make a list of safety, match, and reach schools for your student. Become familiar with the types of college visits—individual, overnight, and formal visit days—and understand the differences between each one. Learn what to look for during college visits, how you can maximize your time on campus, and what questions to ask admissions counselors. Discover what types of scholarships are available and how to get invited to scholarship competitions. Understand the basics of financial aid packages and the FAFSA so you can compare financial aid offers. Students who attend the wrong college can end up transferring, dropping out, or graduating deeply in debt. This workshop will help you to guide your high schooler to find the right fit.
